一“语素”这个术语出自北美语言学派,是morpheme的译名。motphem最早指词的形态成分,译作形素,如英语名词复数的形式成分可以表现为/S/、/Z/、/iZ/等,即在cats中为/—S/,dogs中为/—Z/,在horses中为/iZ/。形素相对于表示实在意义的semanteme而言。稍后morphefne指一个词的组成部分,不论意义的虚或实,译作词素。最后出的定义指最小的音义结台的语言单位,如home这个词不能分成h、ho、ome、me等几个成分,否则它的原义就会消失或变化。因此,home代表一个语素。目
