Bone morphogenetic protein-6 (BMP-6), which belongs to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily, is a multifunctional molecule that regulates bone growth and organ development. Besides the common characteristics of BMP family members that induce chondrocyte differentiation and endochondral bone formation,~1 BMP-6 is overexpressed in breast cancer, prostate cancer and salivary gland cancer, and is speculated to be closely associated with skeletal metastasis.~ 2-5
