Many asthmatics have a refractory period characterized by a reduction in bronchoconstriction after exercise-induced asthma (EIA) and do not respond to re-exercise. The mechanism is unclear, but it is generally accepted that media may be released during initial exercise and that mast cells take some time to re-form granules or reactivate. If the exhaustion of media is the sole cause of the failure of EIA, the reactivity to histamine is reduced or no longer responded to exercise again, so the authors observed that the response to histamine was not significant at rest after one or more exercises .
