编辑从著作者队伍分离出来成为一种独立职业是很早的事。但对编辑的社会职能、社会角色及编辑业务的研究起步甚迟。特别是在国内,“编辑无学”由来已久。把编辑学专业作为一门学科列入高等教育还是近几年的事。当然以前对编辑的非理性认定还是有的,却多有偏颇。今天有必要进行一些理性反思,认真清理有关编辑的一些似是而非的观念,确立编辑这一社会角色的真正内涵。编辑是“杂家”,就是五六十年代国内对于编辑角色的非理性认定。本文拟对“杂家”说作些异议。当然持这种看法的人用心良苦。因为社会上有三百六十行,历史上有诸子百家,编辑这玩意儿,没有什么“家”。大革文化命之前,我们的社会颇重视“家”,诸如作家、科学家、歌唱家……编辑似乎都靠不上,无“家”可归。于是乎好心人灵机一动,有了,编辑什么都知道些,干的活也是杂七杂八的。“杂家”,妙不可言,
It is very early for editors to separate from the author team to become an independent profession. However, research on editorial social functions, social roles and editorial services started very late. Especially in China, “editing without learning” has a long history. It is still a matter of recent years that editorial major should be included as a subject in higher education. Of course, the previous irrational identification of editors is still there, but more biased. Today it is necessary to make some rational introspection, earnestly clean up some plausible notions about editors and establish the true connotation of the editorial social role. Editing is a “miscellaneous family” and it is the irrational assumption of editorial role in the 1950s and 1960s. This article intends to make some objections to “miscellaneous family”. Of course, those who hold this view are well-intentioned. Because there are 360 lines in society and there are hundreds of philosophers in history, there is no “home” for editing this stuff. Before the Great Cultural Revolution, our society valued the “home,” such as writers, scientists, singers ... ... editors seem to rely on no “home” can return.
