Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a group of persistent organic pollutants that have estrogen-like effects that are widespread in the environment and are gaining more and more attention for their reproductive damage to men. Studies have shown that different types of cells in testicular tissue exposed to PCBs can produce different toxic effects. In this paper, the toxic effects of PCBs exposure on testicular spermatogenic cells, supporting cells, interstitial cells and maternal exposure after maternal exposure in recent years are reviewed. It is suggested that in-depth mechanism studies should be conducted based on the current findings of male reproductive epidemiology and that the intercellular junctions of testicular supportive cells may serve as a breakthrough in the study of testicular toxicity of PCBs.
