西曲矿井是全国重点建设项目古交矿区的第一个投产井,设计能力为年产300万吨。1979年8月1日开工,1984年12月1日投产,建设工程为5年4个月,先期投产的工作面长度达57％,井巷工程质量优良品率占60.85％。国家验收委员会对该矿井的验收鉴定评语是“施工速度快、建设周期短、工程质量好,验收总评为优良”。
