本世纪四十年代初。成都聚集了许多知名作家和学者,如郭沫若、茅盾、朱自清、叶圣陶、老舍、萧军等等,真是灿若一片星云。当时作为“中华全国文艺界抗敌协会成都分会”的理事和《笔阵》的主编牧野,虽不能与上述那些作家、学者相提并论,但也为许多人所知晓。他为了办好《笔阵》不辞劳苦,穿梭于各界名流之间,为团结进步作家、组织抗日作品竭尽全力。所以,有人从他的知名度和影响力的持续性看,称他是文坛上的一颗星。
