红花尔基林业局位于大兴安岭北坡西部、呼伦贝尔草原沙地东南部,横跨鄂温克旗、新巴尔虎左旗,境内自东北至西南分布着一条长达150公里、宽约20公里的珍贵树种——樟子松林带,总面积291247公顷.这条林带,对于保持生态平衡,保障当地牧业、农业的发展,防止草原沙化都起到了重要的作用.1996年4月23日,蒙古国的草原大火借助8级以上风力侵人这片宝贵的樟子松林带,并形成树冠火,5小时内烧毁巴日图、诺干诺尔两个林场的大部分樟子松林,其中重度火烧区将要在两年内全部皆伐清理.皆伐后的火烧迹地亟待更新恢复森林,否则将有沙化危险.
