渝州名塔——觉林寺报恩塔矗立于重庆市南岸区涂山之麓,建于清乾隆二十二年(1757年)。重庆最早的商埠邮票便以此塔作为票面风景。相传月江和尚为报答母恩,用母亲留给他的七百两银子修建了这座报恩塔。楼阁式八面九级空心塔,砖石垒砌,通高45米,塔基周长46米。塔身从下到上,逐层收拢缩小,层周有外突觚棱翘角,塔内构筑盘旋而上的石阶,可达塔顶,每层镌刻佛像,洞开小窗,可以纵目远眺,山川秀色,鳞次屋宇,尽收眼底。
