百农63系河南技术师范学院用冀麦9号×掖77—14杂交选育而成。1991年河南省社旗县科学种植养殖研究会引进试种。当年参加品比试验,亩产550公斤,居参试22个品种首位。1992—1993年亩产495公斤,居参试50个品种第二位。1993—1994年亩产518公斤,又居参试43个品种首位。1994年大田推广,恰遇40年不遇之特大干旱,豫麦18等品种枯黄卷叶,分蘖差,穗短小,测产每亩超不过200公斤。而百农63叶绿苗壮,分蘖旺盛,生长强健挺拔,穗大穗多,表现
