This is a report from the Canadian Pediatric Society Nutrition Committee, stating that rickets is endemic in some parts of the country. With vitamin D-fortified milk (1,134 ml of milk contains 400 units of vitamin D), some of the original rickets in the high incidence of the area, and now rarely seen in typical cases of vitamin D deficiency. This report requires pediatricians to note the following two categories of children who need vitamin D supplementation. The first is the rapid growth of low birth weight infants.
