Three coking 80-meter reinforced concrete chimneys at Shaoguan Iron and Steel Plant in Guangdong were constructed using a hydraulic gliding method without derrick. During the construction, the maximum drift of the chimney is 160 mm. The vertical deviation of the chimney center is 15 mm, which is less than the allowable deviation of the chimney specification of 80 mm (H/1000). No safety accident occurred during the entire slide. Excessive cracking or serious loosing occurred and the intended purpose was achieved.
