Based on Sigmund Freud’ s tripartite model of the mind,the analyses of Elizabeth’ s feelings for Mr.Wickham and Mr.Darcy in Pride and Prejudice have been made.Through the analysis of battle between the id and the ego in her mind,the reason for her changes in the feelings for Wickham can be clearly seen.Her feelings for Darcy experience changes as a result of the war between the superego and the ego.Therefore,the ego of Elizabeth’ s mind enables her to make rational choices about emotional issues.
