On July 13, 1793, Mara, one of the leaders of the Jacobin party, the editor-in-chief of Friends of the People in France, was stabbed in the bathtub in his own home. His death inflicted an anger on the French people. At the National Assembly, a representative named Shiro shouted “David, where are you?” “Pick up your brush, take revenge for Mara, and let the enemy tremble at Mara being stabbed!” David immediately agreed, and rushed to the Mara home, with a pen drawing Mara face sketch. Three months later, David’s painting “Death of Mala” was completed (Coloring Book, Vietnam 1989). In this work, David succeeded in portraying the portrait by simple classical methods
