To meet the needs of electronics manufacturers to bring products to market faster and to further miniaturize components, HP introduced the first AOI system. The HPBV3000 system is designed to provide fast throughput and reliable fault coverage to reduce manual visual inspection of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA). While manufacturers are looking for ways to reduce costs, many are evaluating AOI systems. AOI technology is superior to manual visual inspection for several of the following features: The ability to inspect invisible components in the human eye; increase the speed of visual inspection; and increase the reliability and repeatability of defect detection.
