我场地处燕山山脉北麓,七老图山的中段,是华北平原到蒙古高原的过渡地带。材场经营总面积48万亩,境内有两个公社、25个人队,142个生产队,32000口人,农闲季节,可为林业生产提供较多的劳力。场部以下设6个营林区,还有木材加工厂、纤维板厂、木材销售站3个附属企业。现有固定职工217人,合同工37人,大型机械设备40多台。 1956年建场以来,认真贯彻“以营林为基础、采育结合、造管并举、综合利用”的方针,积极开展封山育林和人工造林等工作,到1981年,有林地面积达到32.8万亩,总蓄积达到61万立方米,分别比解放初期增加3倍和11倍。全场共完成荒山造林18.5万亩,保存15.6
