思想政治工作是企业深化改革、转换经营机制、建立现代企业制度、调动企业职工积极性，提高企业经济效益的精神动力和保证。随着我国加入世贸组织的迫近，我国国有企业面临着来自国际、国内的激烈竞争和挑战，国有企业要在这场竞争中不断发展壮大，就必须认清面临的严峻形势，采取切实有力的对策，进一步强化企业思想政治工作。做好企业思想政治工作，要全面贯彻落实“三个代表”思想，坚持创新，注重实效，努力开创企业思想政治工作的新局面。
