Through the study of the electrical conduction between electrodes composed of various materials (copper, aluminum, tin), some data on the material transfer and surface evolution during the pre-breakdown process have been collected. The experimental scope of this paper has been extended to the pairs of electrodes and the pairs of electrodes made of copper and stainless steel. The purpose of this paper is to study the pre-discharge current, and to optically and surface-analyze the electrode to clarify the surface evolution and metal transfer problems.
