Objective To understand the status of AIDS knowledge, attitudes and behaviors (KAB) among the female waiters in entertainment and non-entertainment venues in Guangzhou, and to provide evidence for future health education on AIDS. Methods Questionnaire survey was used to investigate and compare the waitresses in entertainment and non-entertainment venues in Guangzhou. Results 300 questionnaires were issued at the entertainment venues and 286 valid questionnaires were collected. The effective rate was 95.33%. The average age was (22.1±3.29) years. 160 questionnaires were sent out from non-entertainment venues, and 155 valid questionnaires were recovered. It is 96.88% and the average age is (20.8±5.33). The scores of AIDS knowledge, basic knowledge, transmission routes, and non-transmission pathways for female waitresses in entertainment venues were higher than those for non-entertainment venues (P<0.05). Except for “immediate death from AIDS infection” and “mosquito bites will spread” The correct answer rate of AIDS in the two questions is quite high. Other questions are more accurate than non-entertainment sites (P<0.05). The number of waitresses in entertainment establishments who use condoms for sexual intercourse and the attitudes of many sex partners are positive, which is higher than that of non-recreational waitresses (P<0.05). The use of condoms is often used in unmarried cohabitation and sexual life. The proportion is also higher (P<0.05). The attitude toward AIDS patients is basically the same in the two groups. In terms of awareness and willingness to prevent AIDS, apart from the fact that the willingness to carry out health education is basically the same in both groups, the percentage of affirmative responses to other issues is higher for entertainment staff than for non-recreation places (P<0.05). Conclusion The level of awareness of AIDS-related knowledge and awareness of prevention among the female attendants in entertainment places is higher than that of non-entertainment staff, and sexual attitudes and sexual behavior are more open. AIDS awareness and education for women attendants in non-entertainment venues should be strengthened.
