源于Germanic的-less是最常见的后缀之一。一般辞书都对它作了明晰的说明:less附在名词或动词之后主要构成含否定意味(privation;without)的形容词。笔者发现,如此简扼的说明并不足以说明后缀-less深广的内涵,它的种种特点仍值得一书。
-less from Germanic is one of the most common suffixes. It is generally stated in the dictionaries that less is attached to a noun or verb to form primarily an adjective with the meaning of privation (without). The author found that such a brief description is not enough to explain the meaning of the suffix -less broad, its features are still worth a book.
