本文从创作主体意识的角度入手,研究肖洛霍夫早期创作《顿河故事》集的基本特点及其成就与不足,探讨了这部作品在肖洛霍夫整个创作中的地位和作用,并论述了此作作为肖洛霍夫创作中政治小说系列的开端,与后来的《新垦地》、《他们为祖国而战》在作品结构原则、中心冲突方面一脉相承的关系,从而形成与《静静的顿河》、《人的命运》一类悲剧史诗显然有别的另一条创作轨道。本文还着重分析了由于作者早期创作主体意识尚处于自然的自我状态而带有某些局限,因此产生的创作中的不足;在形象塑造、情节及矛盾的处置方面都显得过于简单和类型化,但从此集的《野小鬼》、《人家的骨肉》等篇章中人物塑造及心理描写方面的出色表现,可以看到作者本人为克服主体意识的局限而作出的努力,从而显示出日后迅速成长为一名伟大作家的肖洛霍夫,在创作中不断超越自我而走向辉煌的最初印迹。
