During the Tudor dynasty, the construction of the British monarchy was an unconscious process of marching toward the modern nation-state. The awakening of national consciousness, the establishment of the sovereignty of the king and the germination of economic nationalism have all contributed to this process and laid the foundation for the formation of a nation-state.
