One of the 10 most water-scarce countries in the world is Sudan. A new study by an international group found that they are using ancient water containing radioactive 228 radium and 226 radium in total in excess of 20 times the safe drinking water standard . Sudan uses more natural water each year than the Yarmouk River and has seriously salinized its water because of excessive exploitation of groundwater.
