The strategy of sustainable development has put brand new demands on us. There will be major developments in architecture and relevant urban realms ranging from change of concepts to theoretical restructuring todesign and creative methods or techniques etc. The so - called “green design” is none other than a tactical echoof the sustainable development strategy in the filed of design. Promotion of green design based on the strategy ofsustainable development in urban construction is now faced with six major problems from the academic circle andthe society:1 ) confused understanding;2) the conflict between the whole and the partial;3 ) the incentive problem;4) construction of a valuation system;5) separation of theoretical structuring from actual operation;6) the conflict between academic ideal and professional benefit.
