The expanded base pier has obvious advantages such as high bearing capacity, reliable technology, rapid construction, simple equipment, on-site civilization, and good economic benefits. It is especially suitable for high-rise buildings and large-span column network projects. It is a basic type that is worth promoting. Based on a series of test data of prototype piers, this article discusses some laws of the bearing capacity of the base piers and puts forward opinions on the design and construction methods of this foundation. 1. Characteristics and application scope of diffuser piers: The base of the expanded base (see Fig. 1) is artificial or mechanically formed into holes with a depth of 5 to 15m and a diameter of 0.6 to 1.5m.
