According to the chairman of the California Earthquake Safety Council, Professor Bruce A. Bolt, director of the Seismological Observatory at the University of California, Berkeley, presented his speech at the California State Capitol in Sacramento on March 14, 1985, in central Chile on March 3, 1985. A magnitude 7.4 earthquake during which a detailed record of the destruction of various buildings and strong ground motion is of great importance to California and to some other seismic zones in the United States. Professor Bolt, a member of the Special Investigation Team of the Institute of Earthquake Engineering, spent 6 days in Chile after the earthquake. The devastating earthquake that struck the island at 7:47 p.m. on March 3 resulted in 148 deaths and thousands of injuries in the coastal areas around Valparaiso and in the interior of the capital Santiago. There is a devastating earthquake in Chile every 10 years or so. near
