《通俗赤绳奇缘》是日本江户时期风靡一时的“通俗物”。作者西田维则具有较高的汉文学素养,对唐话的了解达到了一定的高度,他在创作《通俗赤绳奇缘》时,并不是一味地照搬原著《卖油郎独占花魁》的字句,而是采取意译的方式,用日本国民熟悉的词句讲述了这对佳偶的浪漫故事。本文主要对日本方面的《通俗赤绳奇缘》的研究现状进行总结。
