随着千禧之年的到来,网络上不仅电子商务持续地蓬勃发展,而且非赢利事业也开始纷纷上网。就连一向为社交人士所热衷的慈善事业,如今也开始搬到网上来进行。首先,值得一提的是一个非赢利目的的网站 iGive.com。它由6500多个慈善机构组成,构成了一个“有特殊购物目的”的网站商业街,以其独特的零售网站自助餐形式,吸引着消费者。最为重要的一点是,它主张将收入的一部分捐赠给慈善团体。所谓“自助餐形式”,指的是iGive.com 的成员中,不仅包括一些大型网站,如 Amazon.com、Toysrus.com 等
