提起美国的定期刊物,我们很容易想到美国所出杂志的繁多和销数的钜大,很够得上「杂志国」的徽号,在其他资本主义的国家,也许没有和它比得上的.仅就纽约「处而论,在该处出版的他们所谓「普通杂志」(Popular Magazine),就有九十种之多.这九十种里面,有周刊,有半月刊,有月刊,每期销数统算起来,共达三千五百万份!在这九十种的刊物里面,有六十四种是用粗糙报纸印的,(他们叫做“Pulps”)取价特廉,广布的力量也特大.这六十四种里面有三十八种是由五个大公司出版发行的,可见金圆王国里不但金融资本集中,出版业也有这同样的倾向.这六十四种的杂志内容,大概可分为四大类:即(1)恋爱,(2)侦探,(3)西方探险,(4)战争和
