甜菜是新疆主要经济作物之一而栽培甜菜首先要求解决种子问题,故繁殖甜菜种子是大量栽培甜菜的先决条件。新疆的气候适宜栽培甜菜,温差大,日照强,实行灌溉,故甜菜产量大,含糖分高。同时新疆繁殖甜菜种子亦十分有利,有充足的日照,利於开花授粉;有充足的水分灌溉,使种子充实饱满;空气湿度低,能显著的减轻甜菜褐斑病的发生和传染;雨水少,不会受潮发霉,故所产种籽质量高,呈金黄色。
