威众特Tl、T2垂直轴系是采取圆柱形和圆锥形相结合的一种所谓半运动式的形式,其结构如图1所示(剖面图),内轴是柱形,而外轴则上端较下端为大,形成锥形,外轴顶端为45°斜面,其间均匀分布25颗滚珠,借此和内轴接触旋转。这种形式的轴系,虽然集合了柱形轴和锥形轴的优点,旋转灵活且比较稳定,但是也存在一定的缺点,主要是轴径间的空隙太大,容易产生振动误差,尤其是当仪器受到倾斜方向的撞击后,由于滚珠直接受力于45°斜面,而在旋转轨迹的一部份打下深深弹痕,因此使得垂直轴不能置于垂直方向,而引起整个照准部发生倾斜和位移,并且在转动时发生震动的噪声,严重的影响观测精度,这种现象并不是鲜见的,使用比较久的Wild T1、T2差不多都普通的存在这一问题。
