预群聚电子注行波管比没有预群聚的行波管具有高得多的效率。对于这种特殊的管子,测试表明在增益8分贝时效率从20增加到35%以上。计算机利用不连续圆盘模型,计算得出相同的结果。在最高效率的位置上电子注能量紧密群聚,这说明用降压集电极能够获得十分高的效率。预群聚要求电流和速度调制,这是借助电流栅以及电感调谐的速度调制腔获得。电流栅的要求并不高,所以在高于微波三极管的正常工作区域的频率应该能够工作。这种管子的工作对于输出匹配是灵敏的,在有电子注时难以获得良好的匹配。
Pre-clustered electron injection waveguides have much higher efficiencies than traveling wave tubes without pre-clustering. For this particular tube, the test showed that efficiency increased from 20 to 35% at a gain of 8 dB. The computer uses the discontinuous disc model to calculate the same result. In the most efficient position electron injection energy close together clusters, indicating that the use of step-down collector can be very high efficiency. Pre-clustering requires current and speed modulation, which is obtained by means of a current gate and an inductively tuned speed modulation cavity. Current gate requirements are not high, so higher than the normal operating frequency of the microwave transistor should be able to work. The work of this tube is sensitive to the output matching, and it is difficult to get a good match when there is an electron injection.
