当前湘绿品質情况我省制造綠茶始于清光绪年間,但过去全为内销茶,如岳阳北港、临湘桃林、长沙望城以及古丈、湘阴和江华等地,均为有名的綠茶产区。解放后,为了适应国际市場的需要,53年正式划定临湘、古丈等县为外銷炒青綠茶区,醴陵、湘阴等县为烘青茶区,并由长沙茶厂担任精制加工綠茶任务。目前湘綠茶区极为广阔,初步統計在全省范围內有29个县市生产綠茶
