According to the U.S. magazine Microwave June 6, 1978, the U.S. Air Force has handed over to Spain a remotely-controlled air defense system consisting of a long-range radar station, a microwave communication device and an operational command center. This system replaced some of the radar used in the late fifties. Radar station equipment to obtain the original data, with the assistance of the computer to analyze the information from the fake target analysis of the real aircraft track. The processed data is delivered via digital microwave lines to the command center at Torrejon AFB, near Madrid, where combat commanders command the interceptor.
