Genital herpes (GH) is a disease caused by the infection with herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV 2). HSV 2 is more likely to relapse because it does not produce permanent immunity in humans. We measured the level of IL-2 and IFN-γ in serum and the activity of NK cells and LAK cells in GH patients before and after treatment to investigate the changes of immune function and reveal the immunological mechanism of GH pathogenesis
