《狄仁杰之通天帝国》是徐克的回归之作,它代表着徐克复苏的某种信号。影片投资1.3亿元,通过精细的后期特效,还原了大唐盛世的景观,并创造了六十六丈通天浮屠佛像、地下水都“鬼市”等奇异景象。徐克发挥其天马行空的设想,于《狄仁杰之通天帝国》的平行世界之外,建构了另外两个魔域世界:“通天浮屠”和“入地夜市”。前者外形丰润,内里机关重重,后者鬼魅杂处、阴森恐怖、需要经过摆渡船才能抵达黑市的彼岸……
