对李鸿章和洋务运动的评价,史学界争议较大。以前较长时间(特别是“文革”时期),对李鸿章以及洋务运动评价是基本否定。后来发生了较大的变化,开始承认李鸿章对中国近代史所做的贡献。而其一生倾注较大精力的洋务运动为中国社会催生了前所未有的近代企业,对社会生产力的发展起了促进作用,同时,也是评价李鸿章的重要依据。
The assessment of Li Hongzhang and the Westernization Movement made the controversy in the historiography community larger. For a long time (especially during the “Cultural Revolution”), the assessment of Li Hongzhang and the Westernization Movement was basically negative. Later, great changes took place and began to recognize Li’s contribution to modern Chinese history. However, the Westernization Movement, which devoted great energy to his life, gave birth to an unprecedented modern enterprise in Chinese society and played an active role in promoting the development of social productive forces. At the same time, it is also an important basis for evaluating Li Hongzhang.
