中国农业科学院植物保护研究所成立于1957年8月,由华北农业科学研究所植物保护系和农业理化系农药研究部分为基础组建,为中国农业科学院首批5个专业研究所之一.1970年初,植物保护研究所病虫研究部分被下放至河南新乡,农药研究部分被下放至重庆北碚;1979年,经国务院批准,植物保护研究所重新回迁北京原址,恢复建制;1989和2006年,中国农业科学院原子能利用研究所微生物研究室和中国农业科学院农业
