American Journal of Industrial Research, No. 6, 1972 reported the use of closed-loop computer control of gas chromatography news, extracted as follows. A GC / CPU computer system is capable of closed loop control of the gas chromatograph so that the experimental conditions for column temperature and carrier gas flow for each sample component are optimized when the sample is left in the column. The system takes advantage of the fact that there is an optimum temperature and carrier gas flow rate for each component in a given sample for optimal column efficiency and selectivity. In operation, the system calibrates column temperature and flow after each peak is eluted so that the optimal conditions are met for the components still in the column.
