陈垣(1880～1971)字援庵。广东新会人,本世纪我国著名的历史学家。青年时代在广州度过,先中秀才,后与革命党人游。毕业于西医学校并成为研究中国医学史的先驱。在广州成为天主教徒,并发愿撰写基督教史。而立之年始定居北京,因其成名于北京,故在广州之事,尤其是撰写医学论文及在石室教堂受法国传教士影响之事常过于简略。
