A survey of factories and mines conducted by Engineering and Mining shows that the major projects of aluminum, copper, lead, zinc, iron, gold and uranium in 1987 will not change much from the previous year (333 in 1987, 1986 Year is 335). However, the total estimated investment in these projects has been reduced from 86.2 billion U.S. dollars to 77.2 billion U.S. dollars. The estimated investment in other metal products projects in 1987 also reduced to $ 30.9 billion from $ 49.2 billion in 1986. The reduction in investment reflects the drop in metal prices, which have affected the investment, development and completion dates of many projects, and the dismantlement of many projects. Meanwhile, some other projects have been reviewed to reduce their size.
