立于唐穆宗长庆三年(823年)的《唐蕃会盟碑》,对中古的藏语和汉语研究都有重要意义.它时代明确,标音精细,是藏汉两语语音史上不可多得的高度可信历史文献.1933年罗常培先生《唐五代西北方音》即有研究此碑之汉藏对音的专章,比较了唐官12人的官衔与人名的对音.随着海内外对该碑研究的深入,可辨认的字增多了,1982年王尧先生《吐蕃金石录》中《唐蕃会盟碑》所比较的唐官已增至18人,藏文转写也比罗常培先生书精细得多,其中多处所标下附小阿 (王氏利用空置字母v写),更是罗书所忽略的.这些下附小阿骤看杂乱无章,不分清浊声母、不论一二三等字都能附加,似乎是随意增添的装饰性符号,没有什么实际价值,但经仔细分析,其分布实际颇有规则.在声母基字位置上,小阿表示云母(如:王韦卫)、偶对匣母(如:鹘),在音节尾做元音韵尾的基字.这些都跟作用相当,因此在对藏文字母的拉丁字母转写法中我把它转写作H,不同于王先生的v和罗先生的(而以表示·阿).此外改用j表舌面半元音而不用y,所有舌面辅音相应改为:tj、thj、dj、nj、zj、sj(转写法全案见《民族语文》郑张1993:1-2).本文的藏文转写循此.罗王二先生用i表示,本文用i表示.在碑文中,用藏文字母注音的汉字除了左面大唐登坛各官名位外,还有正面盟文中的文武孝德皇帝、将军谷、绥戎栅、清水县,背面盟文中的太宗文武圣皇帝、贞观、文成公主、三郎开元圣文神武皇帝、景龙、金城公主、京师、石羊寺、长庆、御史中丞(?)、杜载、赞善大夫等名称的对音.小阿出现的范围是:
