中国近代以曾、左、李、张为首的洋务派是以林、龚、魏为代表的改革派的继承者。洋务派不仅在实践过程中继承了改革派的“经世致用”思想,且将其变成了实实在在的洋务实践活动。改革派的“师夷长技”的概念在洋务派那里有着更加丰富的内涵,“师夷”的目的已不只是为了“制夷”,更是将其作为“自强”的手段。洋务派所倡导的“西学”概念较之改革派的“西技”又更深入了很多。因此,洋务派推动了近代中国社会的进步
The Westernization School, headed by Zeng, Zuo, Li and Zhang in modern China, is the successor to the reformists represented by Lin, Gong and Wei. The Westernization School not only inherited the reformist “utility” principle in practice, but also turned it into a practical Westernization practice. The concept of “reform of the barbarians to expat the barbarians” has a richer connotation in the Westernization School. The purpose of “criticizing the barbarians” has not only been aimed at “controlling the barbarians” but also as a means of “self-improvement.” The concept of “Western learning” advocated by the Westernization School is much deeper than the “Westernization” of the reformist school. Therefore, the Westernization School promoted the progress of modern Chinese society
