Semantic translation and communicative translation are translation theories proposed by Newmark, a famous contemporary translator. These two translation methods have far-reaching implications and are used many times in the analysis of various translation versions. This article attempts to use these two translation strategies in the study of TCM translation. Taking Wu Lian Sheng’s English version of Yellow Emperor’s Canon of Internal Medicine as an example, this paper analyzes the combination of semantic translation and communicative translation in translation.
