主演片中的总统候选人斯坦顿,汉克斯也欣然接受。但在阅读完剧本之后,与现任总统克林顿么交甚笃的汉克斯却终于以时间安排有问题决定退出,而尼科尔斯又坚持要由美国演员来演这个角色,于是最终由别一位大牌演员约翰·特拉沃尔塔接演了斯坦顿一角。在其他角色上尼科尔斯倒并不强求,结果两届奥斯卡金像奖得主、英国演员艾玛·汤普森扮演了斯坦顿的妻子苏珊。片中别一位主要角色,黑人法学家亨利也是由来自英国的演员阿德里安·莱斯托扮演的。
Stanton, the presidential candidate in the main movie, Hanks also readily accepted. However, after reading the script, Hanks, who is very much in touch with the incumbent Bill Clinton, has finally decided to withdraw from his timeframe. Nichols insisted that the U.S. actor insist on playing this role. Eventually, Big actor John Travolta casts a corner of Stanton. Nichols, in other roles, was not as demanding as two Oscars, and British actor Emma Thompson played Stanton’s wife, Susan. The other major role in the film, Henry Henry, a black jurist, was also played by a British actor Adrian Lester.
