Using a single zircon technique, two areas of the Earth that have acquired some of the oldest age, the Minnesota River Basin and West Greenland, have been studied. The individual zircon age values obtained from the Minnesota River and Armitage (West Greenland) are not significantly different from those obtained from Farhat (1975) and Baadsgaad (1973) of about 3.3 billion and 3.65 billion years respectively . U-pb analysis of a single zircon from the acidic boulder in the conglomerate unit of Issoua (West Greenland) yields the oldest age of continentally reported continental rocks, ie, 38.24 (+0.12 to 0.09) billion years.
