我省厂矿、交通、建筑企业的劳动保护工作,由于各级党委的重视及企业单位全体职工的努力,是有成绩的。但目前仍存在着不少严重的问题,急需加以解决。据今年一至九月各地报来的材料统计,全省一二九个厂矿企业单位发生事故达×次之多。其中重大事故×次,死×人,重伤×人,轻伤×人,财产损失约×万元。与去年同期比较,死亡事故增加万分之三六,财产损失增加了一倍。最严重的是交通系统死×人,估死亡总数的百分之三○;其次是煤矿、有色金属矿及建筑等企业。发生事故的主要原因:首先是某些企业的领导人员只管生产,忽视安全工作。如常德市轮渡经管处将机器破旧、设备极差的小汽轮渡船,私自超员载客作长途航运,结果航行不足二十华里,因加油发生火灾,造成伤亡×人的惨痛事故。第二、安全技术教育差,规程制度不健全或没有认真贯彻,甚至有些基层干部竟违反规程制度,鼓励工人去进行冒险作业。如湘潭专区建筑工程公司今年元至六月份,因工人缺乏安全知识,造成工伤事故占该公司总事故的百分之六八;瑶岗仙钨矿对新工人缺乏现场和经常的教育,从去年三月至今年五月因事故死亡的七人
