区内出露前震旦系毛忽洞岩组,为深变质的片麻岩,主要是角闪斜长片麻岩、黑云母条带状片麻岩、注入片麻岩和少量透镜状大理岩.片麻岩走向北西至南东,北边以65～75°角南倾,南边以60～65°角北倾.矿区内中基性岩体、角闪岩、闪长岩、辉长岩、辉石岩作东西向展布.侵入体东西长4.8公里,南北宽1.4～1.8公里,与围岩产状基本一致,为不对称的岩盆(见图).
