1985年5月在美国出版的一本题为《科技新路(New Pathways in Science and Tech-nology)》的论文集,汇集了关于美国科学技术21个前沿领域发展概况和远景的调研报告。这些报告是在美国科学、工程和公共政策委员会、美国科学院、美国工程学院和美国医学研究院的指导下,在1982～1984年期间由各自领域的专家小组经广泛调查研究后草拟的。报告不是各领域发展的全面综合述评,但提出了美国在制定有关科学技术政策时应特殊关注的问题。报告都已提交美国政府各有关机构,包括总统科学技术政策办公室、国家科学基金会及其他机构,作为制定国家科学技术政策的依据。本刊选择其中一部分,陆续予以译载,供有关人员参考。
An essay entitled “New Pathways in Science and Tech-nology” published in the United States in May 1985 brought together research reports on developments and prospects in the 21 leading fields of science and technology in the United States. These reports were drafted by the panel of experts in their respective fields after extensive investigations between 1982 and 1984, under the direction of the US Commission on Science, Engineering and Public Policy, the American Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Medical Sciences. The report is not a comprehensive and comprehensive review of developments in various fields, but it raises issues that the United States should pay special attention to in formulating relevant science and technology policies. The reports have been submitted to all relevant U.S. government agencies, including the Office of Presidential Science and Technology Policy, the National Science Foundation and others as the basis for formulating national science and technology policies. Articles selected part of them, one after another to be loaded for reference for the relevant personnel.
