1937年8月1日4时35分,山东菏泽县(曹州)发生7级地震,震中位置:北纬35.4度,东经115.1度。极震区东到马岭岗,西至东明县王坝岗,南到通古集,北至耿海,烈度达Ⅸ度。同日18时41分该地区又发生一次6(3/4)级地震,震中位置:北纬35.3度,东经115.2度。极震区在吴油房、朱楼、大马庄、王堂一带,烈度为Ⅷ度。此次地震使菏泽、东明二县遭受严重破坏,周围14县也受到不同程度破坏。极震区内房屋几乎全部倾倒:
At 4:35 on August 1, 1937, a magnitude 7 earthquake hit Heze County, Shandong (Caozhou). The epicenter was: 35.4 degrees north latitude and 115.1 degrees east longitude. Seismic zone east to Maling Kong, west to Dongming Wang dam Kong, south to Tonggu set, north to Geng sea, intensity of Ⅸ degrees. On the same day, 18:41, another 6 (3/4) earthquakes occurred in the area. The epicenter was located at 35.3 degrees north latitude and 115.2 degrees east longitude. Extreme earthquake in Wu oil room, Zhu House, Da Mazhuang, Wang Tong area, intensity of VIII degrees.
